My father was a carpenter for his whole life, in Italy. I was born there, near Lucca, in Tuscany. I used to work with him when I was younger. I grew up learning about wood and how to work with it. We mainly worked with olive, walnut and oak. My home was surrounded with vineyards and olive trees. That is what the area is famous for.

I started by making wooden items, mainly coat racks and shelves. I have been selling them through my on-line shop for hand-made items www.etsy.com/uk/shop/CuoreRustico and have had some really complimentary reviews. My shop on Etsy is called ‘Cuore Rustico’ which means ‘Rustic Heart’ in Italian. This describes my passion for wood.

I have worked on a wide range of joinery projects. I have displayed these on my website www.calvertoncarpentry.com. I enjoy sharing photos on my website, showing how a job progresses from start to finish.
